Ndhovu Safari Lodge

While Ndhovu Safari Lodge won't win awards for luxury it will surely win your heart for its spectacular riverside location and proximity to the core wildlife highlights of the area.

A comfortable mix of seclusion and intimacy with private tented rooms that open onto a lush lawn and the sprawling river. Each tent, although basic, has its own patio, en suite bathroom, twin beds and roll-up sides and front.

Decorated with eclectic and original African artefacts, the living area is a large thatched lapa that opens out onto the lawn and river. A sun deck hovers above the water on stilts offering a panoramic view of the river. Picnic-bench tables in the buffet restaurant are made from slabs of teak and the lounge and bar area have comfortable cane chairs.

What you see is what you get and par the incredible view and setting, there's some left to be desired. If you're all about the location and the wildlife offerings nearby, then we suppose one could overlook the finer details for ease to visit the Popa Falls or the Mahango and Buffalo Game Parks.

10 en suite tents and 3 self-catering bungalows with mosquito nets; thatched living area with bar and restaurant overlooking the river; deck; curio shop; swimming pool; nearby airstrip; 3 individual campsites with shared ablutions

Boat trips; fishing; birding; game drives in the Mahango and Buffalo Game Parks & a village walk.

Venture off on a guided day trip to Popa Falls including lunch packs or you can also self-drive to view the nearby rapids, another highlight of the area. A great place for a picnic. Spend the day on a game drive in the Buffalo Game Park and combine this with a sundowner boat cruise - the ultimate.

Over 400 species of bird have been recorded in the Mahango Game Park, a few kilometres from the lodge, and in addition to the big game you might see such rarities as roan antelope, red lechwe and nyala.

Mahangu Safari Lodge

Mahangu Safari Lodge is about 22km away from the Okavango River, an easy stopover and budget friendly. Enjoy game viewing by car, boat or the viewing deck.

Nambwa Campsite

A rustic campsite bang in the BNP. Not to be confused with the British National Party or the French bank. So how do you make the Bwabwata National Park? Mix Mahango and Caprivi game reserves with a slither of Kwando River. Done. In 2007. And what a place of beauty it is. An important migration route from Botswana to Angola and very popular with elephants and rhinos. It’s also unusual - the government has a history of involving locals in management.
