Popa Falls Resort
Don't be mislead by the grandiose titles that State-run Namibia Wildlife Resorts adopt - Popa Falls Resort is anything but a resort.
In reality, it is a shaded camp on the southern banks of the perennial Kavango River that offers rudimentary reed and thatch self-catering bungalows, and camping sites with communal kitchen and ablutions. You may need to work up an appetite in order to enjoy the restaurant's simple fare; and the store provides basic essentials but don't leave the smoked mussels and crackers behind.
And Popa Falls is actually nothing more than a picturesque series of cascades and channels caused by a kink in the Kavango River; this kink, however, is entirely responsible for the existence of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. You can walk to the cascades from Popa Falls Resort and the whole area is a lush profusion of riverine forest and floodplains - birdsong is ever-present except when you approach the rapids whose soporific rumble all but drowns it out.

Walking trails, birdwatching, fishing, self-guided game drives to the nearby Mahango Game Park
About 15km from the camp is the Mahango Game Park, a rugged and wild reserve with spectacular riverine and woodland scenery. Over 400 species of bird have been recorded in this region and the park supports some rare species of animal including red lechwe, reedbuck, roan and sable antelopes, and the elusive semi-aquatic sitatunga antelope. During the rainy season, access is restricted to 4x4 vehicles only and we recommend you go in two cars.

Mahangu Safari Lodge
Mahango Safari Lodge is that quintessential down-to-earth Namibian safari lodge that celebrates its incredible location above all else.
A rustic campsite bang in the BNP. Not to be confused with the British National Party or the French bank. So how do you make the Bwabwata National Park? Mix Mahango and Caprivi game reserves with a slither of Kwando River. Done. In 2007. And what a place of beauty it is. An important migration route from Botswana to Angola and very popular with elephants and rhinos. It’s also unusual - the government has a history of involving locals in management.
Ndhovu Safari Lodge
Ndhovu Safari Lodge is a basic and rustic tented lodge well situated along the banks of the Cubango River in west Caprivi. Close to the Mahango and Buffalo Game Parks and Popa Falls.
