Chobe National Park

Savute Safari Lodge

The Savuti region of the Chobe National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Botswana and thus, one of the best safari destinations in Africa. Situated along the dry Savuti Channel the Savute Safari Lodge plays host to an exciting melee of elephant, zebra, wildebeest, lion, hyena, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and a great variety of antelopes and large herbivores.

The suites at Savute Safari Lodge are raised on large teak platforms overlooking the Savuti Channel - new name for a wildlife cable TV channel? Built from local wood and thatch, the 12 large rooms have large glass doors that open onto a large private balcony with a stunning view of the wilderness below.

Savute Safari Lodge living area has a high thatched roof and open sides with dining room, lounge, fireplace, reference library, cocktail bar and an upstairs deck for an uninterrupted view of the waterhole - spectacular African bush sunsets guaranteed. Food, service and hospitality are of a consistent high standard overshadowed by the exceptional safari experience.

Activities

Overlooking a permanent waterhole in the Savuti Channel; game drives in the Savuti region of Chobe National Park; birding in the Savuti marshes

Large herds of zebra, wildebeest and smaller antelope migrate along the Savuti channel towards the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park attracting lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.

A fascinating documentary made in the Savuti revealed hunting hyena, scavenging lions and a fearsome feud between the two. The Savuti is also famous for its high elephant concentrations on whom the lions are known to prey in packs.

On your game drives away from the Savute Safari Lodge, you will visit waterholes and the Savuti marshes, home to many migrant birds and, en route, you are likely to see a great variety of wildlife and birdlife.
