The soft interiors make a striking statement against the bold backdrop of the Klip River Valley; Grootberg Lodge stands on the edge of the Grootberg Plateau in the heart of Damaraland half way between Etosha and the Skeleton Coast.
Sixteen stone and thatch suites rise from the scrub like organic watch towers, commanding a view across the valley, whilst inside is all soft fabrics, cool whites and solid teak furniture. The main living area is a long embrace of that same view and features a comfortable lounge area and a wide verandah with Morris chairs.
In a landmark development, 12,000 hectares were proclaimed for conservation by the the #Khoadi//Hoas (ask Simonetta how to pronounce that) community for conservation and tourism and Grootberg Lodge is owned by the people of this region.
16 rock and thatch chalets - either double/twin, triple or family; en suite bathrooms; private terrace with view; solar for geyser and lights; electrical outlets, charging station & WiFi in the main area swimming pool; spa; restaurant & bar
Note: Not wheelchair friendly and for those with trouble walking it is recommended to book a room close to the main area of the lodge.

Desert-adapted elephant, black rhino and elusive lion are some of the more impressive mammals in the reserve. Your personal guide will take you on drives and walks, pointing out Damaraland's numerous endemics and interesting species of birds, plants and animals.
