Etosha Mountain Lodge
Etosha Mountain Lodge is in the exclusive Etosha Heights Private Reserve on the southwest border of Etosha National Park. And when we say border, we mean it. The reserve covers 60,000 hectares and 65km of it borders Etosha.
The Etosha Heights Private Reserve came to be in 1999 after 10 farms merged to create a stunning wildlife haven. It's now one of the largest private reserves in Namibia. And one of the best benefits of a private reserve? You're far from the madding crowds.
Mountain zebra, kudu, lion hiding in the dolomite hills. Rhinos too, the reserve is home to both white and black. Etosha Heights has links with the Etosha Rand Lion Conservation Project, the Namibia National Cheetah Survey and a vulture feeding program at the Safarihoek hide.
There are 7 chalets, six doubles/twins and one family chalet all with en-suite bathrooms, indoor showers & bathtubs. They also have incredible 180 degree views from the large wooden viewing decks. Plus electronic safes, tea & coffee and ceiling fans in every room.
The heart of the lodge is the circular, elevated lounge, dining, and bar area which is under thatch and surrounded by a 360 degree balcony. Just spin. But don't hit your head with your binoculars.
All meals, daily activities, local drinks and laundry services are included and the lodge is run entirely on solar power, with a generator for back up.
Photography hide; bar; wine cellar; swimming pool; restaurant; WiFi & phone reception in main area; laundry services; curio shop; photographic hide; floodlit Waterhole; solar power with backup generator; outdoor boma; braai area
Vast flat savannah. Mopani woodland. Forests and salt pans. Dolomite hills. Waterhole after waterhole. Get ready. There are guided game drives, night drives & bush picnics on offer.
Go out in search of big cats. Antelope, giraffe, elephant and aardvark. Morning game drive, afternoon sundowner drive, bush walks and private game drives as well as a photography hide to lose yourself in.
Accessible from the lodge and at no additional cost, the Safarihoek hide is unique in Namibia. Built on two levels, with wheelchair access to the upper level (and toilet), and looking on to a large, natural waterhole. The lower, ground level is set up for serious photographers with a charging station with international adaptors, areas for gear storage and an eye level view of the action. The upper level is under thatch, also with a charging station, day beds, refrigerator, a ledge for bean bag use and camera support. It offers a completely different view of the waterhole.
This is a sublime place. You may well feel deeply emotional about the sheer wealth of wild here. With all this natural phenomena around you this place can feel truly intense.
