Epupa Falls Lodge & Campsite
Epupa Falls Lodge is shaded by native makalani palms and the snaking swathe of riverine forest, a welcome sight after the dusty desolation of Namibia's most wild realm: Kaokoland.
Epupa Falls Lodge is a privately owned and run lodge offering a unique stay, with the best views over the Kunene River and the Epupa Falls in the heart of Kaokoland.
It’s nothing fancy but with great hosts and the best location in the area it’s well worth the stay.
Rustic wooden, canvas and thatch chalets on stiltz give a spectacular view of the river out front through a framed window, which is really more a tented 'flap' that opens up to allow the breeze in and allow you to look out onto the stunning surrounds.
What used to be only a campsite is now a small and intimate lodge comprised of 8 chalets and still offers 13 campsites under the shade of the makalanis’. A paradise in an otherwise dry and arid region.
Built of local materials, the lodge has an aptly 'local cultural' feel. The chalets offer all the basics with en suite bathrooms, hot running water, alluring mozzi nets, solar power and coffee or tea in bed.
Watch this space as a honeymoon chalet is on the cards for July/ August 2019.
On the Kunene River within earshot of Epupa Falls; 5 river view chalets and 3 family chalets with en suite bathrooms; restaurant; bar; swimming pool; laundry facilities & secure parking.
Campsites: Individual campsites on river sand under shade; braai area; shared ablutions with bathrooms & showers with hot water. All water is river water.
Excellent bird watching; sundowner drives; hiking; fishing & visits to Himba villages.
Day drives through Zebra Mountain also include a Himba village visit and optional hiking.
Photographic tours can be done on request.

The Masai-like Himba people of Kaokoland have retained their traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle. Their land is harsh, inhospitable and fascinating, creating a delicate balance between survival and obliteration.
Khowarib Lodge is a comfortable safari lodge in Kaokoland, Namibia: a vast, wild and beautiful wilderness area inhabited by Himba pastoralists and desert-adapted wildlife.
Epupa Camp & Campsite
On the edge of the southern bank of the Kunene River, the lodge and campsites are nestled as an oasis under the wild figs, makalani palms and baobabs. A retreat in an otherwise harsh and remote area of pure beauty and although it’s not luxury, it’s a notable step up from other more basic tented camps you might come across.
