Epupa Falls Lodge & Campsite
Epupa Falls Lodge is shaded by native makalani palms and the snaking swathe of riverine forest, a welcome sight after the dusty desolation of Namibia's most wild realm: Kaokoland.
The first lodge on the left as you enter Epupa, Epupa Falls Lodge is a privately owned and run lodge offering a unique stay, with the best views over the Kunene River and the Epupa Falls in the heart of Kaokoland.
It’s nothing fancy but with great hosts and the best location in the area it’s well worth the stay.
Rustic wooden, canvas and thatch chalets on stiltz give a spectacular view of the river out front through a framed window, which is really more a tented 'flap' that opens up to allow the breeze in and allow you to look out onto the stunning surrounds.
What used to be only a campsite is now a small and intimate lodge comprised of 9 chalets (including one for the honeymooners) and still offers 7 campsites under the shade of the makalanis’. A paradise in an otherwise dry and arid region.
Built of local materials, the lodge has an aptly 'local cultural' feel. The chalets offer all the basics with en suite bathrooms, hot running water, alluring mozzi nets, solar power and coffee or tea in bed.
On the Kunene River within earshot of Epupa Falls; 5 river view chalets on stilts, 1 honeymoon chalet and 3 family chalets with en suite bathrooms; mosquito nets; solar power, restaurant; bar; swimming pool; laundry facilities & secure parking.
Campsites: 7 individual campsites (3 river-facing) on river sand under shade; braai area; shared ablutions with bathrooms & showers with hot water. All water is from the river.
Excellent bird watching; sundowner viewpoint; hiking (go at sunrise); Epupa tours & visits to Himba villages.
Day drives through Zebra Mountain also include a Himba village visit and optional hiking.
Photographic tours can be done on request.
Relax and enjoy the on-site masseuse.

Opuwo Country Hotel sits pretty in the centre of Kaokoland, ideal to explore authentic Himba villages. A mid-way point between the Kunene River and the western side of Etosha.
Discover the remote north west of Namibia from Khowarib Lodge. This is Kaokoland, along the ephemeral Hoanib River, a place of the nomadic Himba people and the elusive desert –adapted elephant and rhinos.
Epupa Camp & Campsite
With Meru-style tents on stone platforms (with WiFi), Epupa Camp is a step up from most tented offerings in the area. The camp and campsites are mere meters away from the Kunene River.
