Hoanib Valley Camp
Hoanib Valley Camp is a strong contender for one of Namibia’s most remote camps. It’s hidden in a valley amongst the magnitude of its surrounds and with little else in the area, this is what you would call untouched solitude.
Certainly not easy to find if you plan on driving all the way into camp. Best leave the vehicle in Sesfontein and enjoy the nature drive in with your lodge guide. Explore this incredibly vast area of the Northwest Kaokoveld in absolute seclusion and sophisticated luxury.
A simple aesthetic well blended into the surrounds. Step out of your tent and into the wilderness. Stark beauty. Rugged and desolate. It’s hard to imagine that anything can live out here, never mind thrive, but somehow the desert adapted animals do and that without a gin and tonic at sunset. How on earth do they do it?
Inspired by the ochres of the desert landscape, the geometric patterns of the Himba pastoralists and the giraffe researched in the area, the décor is elegant and up-market, accentuating comfort through the use of local and recycled materials. An intimate and exclusive camp accompanied by attentive staff and a welcoming atmosphere. There are few camps like it. There’s something truly exceptional about sharing the extent of this place with only a few other people in camp at any given time. Makes one feel insignificant and yet at the same time, truly special and of the elite.
6 tents (5 twins & 1 family unit) with en-suite bathroom and indoor shower; bathrobes; fans; safe; umbrellas; coffee & tea facilities; USB charging station; private veranda; WiFi; mess tent with dining area; lounge; fire pit; swimming pool; deck; laundry service; transfers
Children of all ages are welcome.
Nature drives; visits to local Himba village; guided nature walks; rhino tracking (with a guide from Save the Rhino Trust).
Look out for desert adapted elephants, giraffe, rhino, mountain zebra, oryx and possibly even some of the last lions in the area.
A chance to get a glimpse into the giraffe research projects run in the area.
No matter what activity you are out enjoying, you can be assured you are out there alone. With little else around you, just pure nature and the rugged isolation of an area so immense. It’s hard to comprehend.
