Kunene River Lodge
The deck, extending out over the water and shaded by a dense canopy of riverine trees, is the focal point of this remote lodge in northern Namibia.
The Kunene River Lodge is a come-as-you-are camp that provides rustic, yet comfortable, accommodation in one of the most remote locations in the country. In such isolation, the relaxing sounds of the river gurgling by, a forest of birds and the tinkle of ice in your glass is a seductive cocktail.
Bungalows are made of local stone and thatch and each has an en suite bathroom, a private piece of forest and a garden view. The living area comprises that enormous deck, a restaurant, bar, swimming pool and a small shop all looking out onto Angola in the distance. The campsites have views out over the river. Serene.
On the Kunene River, just 60km from Ruacana, this oasis of green is unlike other dry areas of the Kaokoland region. Hot and humid. An offroad adventure and away from any real hint of modern civilisation. A birder's paradise, especially for those interested in spying the Cinderella waxbill.
12 en suite bungalows; small fridge; safe; air-con; restaurant; bar; swimming pool; shaded deck over the water; WiFi in the main area

Rafting; river boarding; excellent bird watching; sundowner cruises; canoeing; hiking; fishing; mountain biking; quad biking; visits to Himba villages
The lodge is situated on the river between Rucana Falls - 60km to the east - and Epupa Falls, which is about 100km to the west. Activities on land and water include rafting, canoeing, river boarding and gentle sundowner cruises. Take to the mountains to discover one of the most sparsely populated regions in the world. Cultural interaction can be arranged with the local Himba people - semi-nomadic pastoralists who have been roaming this inhospitable land for aeons.

Epupa Falls Lodge & Campsite
Epupa Falls Lodge is shaded by native makalani palms and the snaking swathe of riverine forest, a welcome sight after the dusty desolation of Namibia's most wild realm: Kaokoland.
