Okavango Delta

Rra Dinare Camp

Its funky name means “father buffalo”, and this place is indeed the buffalo's eyebrows. So drenched in wildlife, in the heart of all the action, it’s almost ridiculous. Perched upon stilts, overlooking the flood plains of the Gomoti River, forget a room with a view this place even gives you that from the toilet.

An environmentally sustained camp in the South Eastern part of the Okavango delta - a UNESCO World Heritage site. Set on a 67,000 acre private concession next to the Moremi Game Reserve. You’ll have to fly in - it’s that remote - the airstrips servicing the camps are approximately a 20 minute flight from Maun and an hour and 20 from Kasane. Once you’ve landed you’re looking at a 45-minute drive from the airstrip. And it’s a game drive. Which is pretty great considering you haven’t even arrived yet.

8 elevated tents including one family tent. Ensuite bathrooms, double vanity basins, private toilet with that illustrious view. An outdoor modern shower with - get this - instructions on how to ask a baboon to leave. We kid you not. Rumour has it the guys on reception have, on the rare occasion, had to impart this knowledge. Just pack a fig. They like them. Apparently.

Facilities

Pool; bar; main guest area with a wide circular seating area around a fire; curio shop; laundry service

Activities

Game drives day and night with a maximum of 6 guests per vehicle, plus a driver and a tracker on night drives.

When water levels are right you can go on guided Mokoro trips - they’re a bit like canoes.

Game walks depending on local conditions.

The guides here are known for their knowledge, experience and that all important perseverance.

Belmond Khwai River Lodge

On the outer edge of the Okavango delta, on the edge of a forest, overlooking a river. The Khwai River. Belmond Khwai River Lodge is here and just outside Moremi Game Reserve. You’re in the wild. You’re in their home. No fences, no kidding. Be alert. You could well be making eye contact with a wandering elephant. Or hippo.

Camp Moremi

Camp Moremi is a small and welcoming safari lodge in the Okavango Delta's Moremi Game Reserve on the edge of a large palm-infringed lagoon.
