Kwara Camp is a comfortable and unassuming safari lodge in Kwara Concession. The Kwara Concession is a private reserve in the northern region of the Okavango Delta spanning an amazing 170,000 ha of pristine delta wilderness.
Looking out over the lagoons and islands of the permanent delta waters and backing onto a floodplain dotted with mopane woodland, Kwara Camp offers all of Botswana’s diverse habitats.
Kwara Camp is built amongst a grove of giant ebony trees on an island overlooking a lagoon. Though water levels vary between high and low season, Kwara Camp features permanent year-round water and land activities and the camp is open all year.
The tented rooms are comfortable, not super luxury, but the essentials are covered: a large and comfortable double/twin bed; en suite bathroom with hot water and flushing toilets - an achievement you'll realise only when you fly over the delta to arrive at Kwara Camp; thatched roofing; and a private deck overlooking the lagoon.
Fully inclusive accommodation in 8 tented safari rooms; en suite bathrooms with inside and outside showers, hot water; flushing toilets; private decks; double/twin beds; honeymoon suite; lounge, camp fire, dining area; swimming pool; game drives, walking safaris, fishing trips, motorboat safaris, mokoro trips
The delta is as famous for its aquatic and woodland birdlife as it is for its large plains herds and array of predators. Kwara Camp takes full advantage of its position and size to bring you an exceptional wildlife experience.
Safari activities include daily game drives, night drives, mekoro trips (traditional dug-out pole canoe), game viewing river cruises on a double-decker motorboat for better views and walking safaris – the whole lot and the rangers and trackers are where Kwara Camp - and the rest of the Kwando group - put a lot of emphasis.
On the wildlife front, the area is home to lechwe, sitatunga, reedbuck, bushbuck, hippo, crocodile, elephant, buffalo, sable, roan, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, impala and tsessebe. Big game predators include lion, hyena, wild dog, leopard and cheetah.
Birdlife is an obvious highlight here and everywhere in the Okavango - whether you're into them or not, you'll be impressed. Your guide will show you kingfishers, pygmy geese, fish eagles, jacanas, darters and the rare Pel’s fishing owl; the nearby Godikwe Lagoon is a famous breeding ground for thousands of herons, storks and other nesting birds.
