Baines' Campsite is the last word in luxury and intimacy in the Okavango Delta. Situated in a private concession, the game viewing activities are on offer cover the range of possibilities in the delta with the addition of a unique and essential experience: the elephant safari where three orphans take you on a safari of their native land.
With just five suites, Baines' Campsite offers first-rate service, personal attention and complete tranquillity. Each suite, at a suitable distance from the next, is built on a raised wooden deck with a thatched roof and paper-thin canvas walls. Inside is a large lounge area, an enticing four-poster bed and luxurious bathrooms. A large veranda accommodates your four-poster should you fancy a night under the stars (the mosquito net comes with).
Overlooking the perennial Boro River and a seasonal lagoon, the living area is hat-on-heart admiration for the beautiful setting of this luxury lodge. A large deck hosts dinners and game viewing lounging, the swimming pool is flanked by two thatched gazebos with day beds.
Five palatial suites; en suite bathrooms; private deck overlooking the river; movable four-poster beds for a night under the stars; hammock and chair on the veranda; mini bar; ceiling fan; outdoor dining deck overlooking the lagoon; swimming pool with day beds
Day and night game drives; walking safaris; mokoro dugout and delta boat water safaris; birding; stargazing; elephant walk
Water safaris, for which the Okavango Delta is famous, are offered almost all year round with both traditional mekoro dug-out canoes and delta boat safaris available.
Being in a private concession gives you many more options: game drives can extend into the night and you can take guided walking safaris on the islands and the floodplains. A unique and must-do-before-you-depart-this-earth activity is the walk with elephants. Meet three orphaned elephants with their enchanting characters and intricate relationshiops as they take you on a guided walk through their delta wilderness.
