Desert Homestead Lodge
The Desert Homestead is a tranquil and unfussy lodge near Sossusvlei. Comfortable thatch chalets compliment the rich tapestry of the Namib Desert and the main living area is a serene salutation of the passing days.
While close to Sesriem and Sossusvlei, The Desert Homestead is more about a tranquil experience of the Namib Desert on horseback than the spectacle of the great sand dunes.
The lodge is made up of beautiful thatch-roofed pastel-walled chalets that lend themselves to the quiet charm of this magical region. Inside the 27 chalets, the serenity continues: soft, white linens against dark furniture and whitewashed walls. Private verandahs look out over the plain that is framed by craggy mountains in every direction.
The main lodge is a light and airy mix of open relaxation and cosy retreat. Hearty homestead meals are enriched by the setting and with home-grown ingredients. The swimming pools provide languid refreshment after a hot day's riding.
27 thatched chalets of which 1 is a family room; en suite bathrooms; air- conditioning on solar power; mosquito nets; private shaded verandah; 2 swimming pools; restaurant; bar; separate TV lounge; view deck; WiFi in the main area
Sunrise and sunset horse rides; sunset drives; overnight rides; multi-day sleep-out rides; guided excursions to Sossusvlei; scenic flights; paramotor tours & sundowner drives
Sunrise and sunset rides wind through riverbeds, over hills and across endless plains soaking up the remarkable terrain and its birds, plants and animals. The effect is sublime. Morning outings turn back after an almighty continental breakfast taken beneath the rising sun; evening outings culminate atop a vantage point with the setting sun and the tinkle of ice on glass.
If you seek a bit more adventure, try the overnight sleep-out or the multi-day trek that is nothing short of sheer decadence.

Kulala Desert Lodge
At Kulala Desert Lodge the sense of isolation is exaggerated by the vast plains, desolate dunes and rugged mountains that make up its 21,000ha private reserve.
The Elegant Desert Lodge
On approaching Elegant Desert Lodge, about 40km from Sesriem, the first thing you will notice is that it’s not exactly all that elegant. In fact it’s a fairly solid, stone-built, thatched-roofed monolith in the typical farmstead style of the early Dutch settler.
Sossusvlei Lodge is a comfortable and welcoming lodge on the edge of the Sossusvlei dunes and right at the entrance to Sesriem. Service and attention to detail is thorough and the chalets have private patios overlooking a floodlit waterhole and the desert and mountains beyond.
