Situated inside the South Luangwa Park, Wildlife Camp is a charming and casual mish-mash of chalets, tented camp, campsite and a satellite Bush Camp for overnight walking safaris.
Life at the camp revolves around the wild and wonderful wildlife of the South Luangwa National Park - home of the walking safari and one of Africa's unspoilt game reserves.
Wildlife Camp offers a choice of straight-forward camping, a pre-erected tented camp, en suite chalets and a semi-permanent bush camp operating as a fully-serviced mobile camp for walking safaris.
The chalets are spacious, clean and comfortable with hot running water, cool thatched roofs and a private balcony. The tented camp comprises just five tented rooms, beneath a thatched gazebo for extra coolness, all en suite with splendid open-air showers, flushing toilets and a front porch overlooking the Luangwa River. A safari vehicle takes you to and from the restaurant and entertainment area.
Meals and stories are served in the main lodge restaurant and the bar on the edge of the river - a scene of much wildlife activity. Warthogs Wallow serves a fine Mozi (Zambian lager) with a casual and frequently festive atmosphere, though tempo never quite reaches the fever pitch of city life - something to do with the inescapable peace and tranquility of the heady African bush.
Rates from US$150-250 – all inclusive except bar and laundry
Full board accommodation options include en suite private tented camp; river and lagoon en suite chalets; restaurant; bar; game drives; night drives; walking safaris; self-guided walking trails; village excursions
Full board guests enjoy two game drives a day, the first at sparrow's and the second extends well into the night when a whole new world of fascinating creatures fill the night. Walking safaris are a highlight in Zambia and they offer an amazing rich game viewing experience with sounds, smells, textures and sights filling your senses.
Visitors to Wildlife Camp should opt for a night or two at the Bush Camp, which is a comfortable mobile safari camp with hot water bucket showers, bush toilets and meals expertly cooked over the open fire. After an exciting walk through the bush you arrive at your wild camp ready for an amazing - and safe - night out under the stars. Unforgettable.
It doesn't all need to be gin and tonics, breakfasts by the river and en suite luxury: the guides at Wildlife Camp will happily give you a guided tour of their local villages and the colourful Zambian community. Sample some of the food dishes, browse the markets, buy some genuine African craftwork and just hang out and enjoy the easy life of Africa.
