Cresta Sprayview Hotel
A 70s classic given a smart revamp after its Cresta acquisition, Sprayview is a biggish hotel on the edge of Victoria Falls town, a short walk to the town centre and the falls.
A wide staircase leads to the reception area where you'll be greeted in typically friendly Zimbabwean fashion. The rooms are plush, on the plain side but nonetheless very comfortable with double or twin beds, en suite bathrooms and the usual in-room amenities found in chain hotels the world over. Family rooms and luxury suites are also available although if you're going to upgrade we'll likely steer you towards somewhere with a little more character.
The hotel has restaurants, bars, lounges and public spaces galore the primary spot of course being the enormous swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers, tables and chairs under thatched gazebos and smiling waiters scurrying back and forth laden with bright cocktails and light meals. The hotel is surrounded by six acres of well-watered grounds featuring some wonderful acacia trees.
The town centre is a short walk from Cresta Sprayview where you'll find more restaurants, shops and cafés if life at the hotel becomes a little staid. The Victoria Falls Rain Forest, from where you view the falls, is a little further on - an easy 20-minute walk. The front desk serves as your booking hub and will happily arrange scenic flights, river rafting, game viewing and scenic river cruises to name the most popular activities.
Bed and breakfast accommodation in 65 en suite rooms; air conditioning; safe; hair dryer; tea/coffee; satellite TV; telephone; travel plugs; room service; wi-fi; 24-hour reception; secure parking; transfers; laundry; concierge
Vic Falls is the activity centre of southern Africa. Victoria Falls waterfall itself is obviously the main attraction and the walk through the rain forest a stone's throw from the world's most impressive waterfalls is a memorable experience. Next up is a range of water-based activities including rafting; sunset cruises and canoeing safaris; aerial views of the falls are pricey but well worth it; the bungee jump is famous for its location more than its height. Operators in the Vic Falls National Park offer elephant and lion encounters and standard game drives and walking safaris. We could go on all day about the things to do in Vic Falls but we won't, just go there you'll love it.
