A'Zambezi River Lodge
Wake up to hippo munching on the lawns outside your room, or watch a family of warthog scurry around looking for tasty morsels of food - these are the things you can expect at A'Zambezi River Lodge. And more.
A'Zambezi River Lodge is a five-minute drive from the mighty Victoria Falls, right on the edge of the upper Zambezi – 'upper' referring to its relation to the falls - and bordering on the Zambezi National Park.
Built in two crescent-shaped wings facing the river, the 87 en-suite rooms have balconies or terraces which either overlook the warthog-tended gardens, or the Zambezi River. Here they have a philosophy which applies to everything they do at the lodge: get it right, the first time. And indeed they have got it right with the friendly staff and immaculate grounds.
The lodge has several restaurants/ bars: the Amulonga at the river's edge is an award-winning restaurant which offers traditional dishes - warthog being amongst the favourites. Sebastian's, named after the resident hippo, offers incredible views over the river with the Victoria Falls plume as a backdrop. The Zambezi Bar is the main bar of the hotel and offers a view out over the mighty Zambezi River. Every night you are also treated to traditional music, song and dance while you eat; this is something which you have to see.
The Reading Room is a sanctuary if you are looking for a quiet place out of the heat, you can use this room to catch-up on some emails or to relax with a book before dinner.
87 air-conditioned rooms including standard doubles/twins, Queen Suites and Luxury King Suites. All have en suite bathrooms; tea and coffee making facilities; mini bar; hairdryer; safe; high speed WiFi; telephone; LCD TV with satellite news; mosquito nets; insect repellents; swimming pool; children's pool; restaurants; bars; room service; free shuttle to the main attractions; reading room; outdoor dining boma;curio shop; jetty site; Beauty Spa; laundry facilities; valet service; concierge; electrical adapters (on request); baby-sitting (on request)
You're really close to almost all the important attractions and places to see and with a dedicated activity desk, they can help you book any activities or highlights. Bonus!
Take a sunset cruise on the Zambezi from the lodge's private jetty or experience the falls from above in a helicopter. Take a forest walk on the edge of the falls. There are numerous adrenalin fuelled activities like bungee jumping and white water rafting if that is what you are after. Nightly singing and dancing by locals is something which you should not miss.
There's plenty to do and if you aren't sure when, where or how, just ask for assistance. It's that simple.
