PheZulu Guest Lodge
Life can’t be too bad when you get to lounge by a pool listening to the rushing water of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World in the background. Phezulu Guest Lodge is an eco-friendly lodge that fits seamlessly into the suburbs only a few clicks from the magnificent Victoria Falls.
Phezulu Guest Lodge caters to those who seek comfort and something a little more modern rather than the traditional “African safari experience”. It’s family-friendly, easy-going and well-priced.
It is relatively new, but that doesn’t mean it won’t deliver. Situated in the suburbs, it comes as no surprise that it has a homely look and feel to it. The gardens give it a tropical theme to remind you that you are actually on vacation, but the rooms will make you feel right at home.
Modern with bright colours and decorated with African art, each of the 21 rooms are fitted with a queen-sized bed, mosquito nets and air conditioning an en-suite with a shower and some with bathtubs (bubble time).
In terms of giving back, Phezulu strongly believes in the importance of green tourism and it all starts with your room. Your geyser and lights are powered by solar panels and your bathroom is fitted with a water-saving showerhead. The restaurant uses locally sourced products and wherever possible the lodge makes a big deal about empowering the community.
The restaurant serves an English breakfast every morning while lunch and dinner are on request. If you are in a hurry to get to the falls or perhaps get your adrenaline pumping, they can even pack up your breakfast-to-go.
While the lodge doesn’t offer any activities themselves, they are more than willing to help you make arrangements. Go for a mind-blowing helicopter ride or a thrill-seeking bungee jump experience, in case you wanted to really get up-close with the falls.
Kids in tow? Here's the secret: enjoy your “me time” while the kids are entertained by a babysitter. By the time you leave, you’ll feel well relaxed, and to top it off, you too can can give back to the community, as they have an option for guests to donate a dollar that will go towards community projects.
21 rooms fitted with queen-sized beds and en-suite bathrooms; air conditioning; mosquito nets; safes; tea and coffee facilities; small veranda; WiFi in main areas; restaurant, bar; swimming pool; laundry service (additional cost)
Considering that you are only 3.5 km from Victoria Falls, there are plenty activities on offer in the surrounding area. These activities include guided tours of the Victoria Falls, sunset cruises, bungee jumping, white-river rafting, helicopter rides, zip lining, swimming on the edge of the Victoria Falls in the Devil’s Pool (on the Zambian side), and many more if you have the time.
