Frans Indongo Lodge
Frans Indongo Lodge - named after its rags-to-riches owner - is a small, comfortable lodge between Windhoek and Etosha. The lodge is built like an Ovambo kraal with gnarled sticks, reed and stone for walls and thatched roofs.
The fourteen rooms are spacious chalets where the traditional African theme has a creamy overtone. Air conditioning, a mini bar and satellite TV take care of the creature comforts. The main lodge is built under thatch with an enormous deck that looks out over the African plains.
A watchtower overlooks a waterhole that is frequently visited by rare antelope including sable, eland, roan, black-faced impala, white blesbok and nyala. Game drives traverse the 170,000ha reserve in search of the resident white and black rhino. Trails ranging from one to four hours fan out from the lodge and the plants have trees have been marked for easy identification. Birding is also good.
A personal touch and warm welcome can be expected from hosts, Astrid & Alf Walter. A homely feel. Surrounded by African bush. A perfect stopover en-route to or from Etosha or the Zambezi region.
