Weavers Rock Guest Farm
Weaver's Rock is an excellent value and delightful farmstay half way between Windhoek and Etosha and a wonderful way to start your Namibian holiday after a long flight.
On holiday, some people like to be left alone to unwind, contemplate life and experience nature in solitude; others like to meet the locals and see the country through their eyes. Weaver's Rock Guest Farm is definitely for the latter type of traveller.
A working cattle farm since the early 1900s, Weaver's Rock is the genuine made-in-Namibia article. Your hosts Mark and Nadia are several generations down the line German-speaking Namibians and your stay at their farm could not be more authentic.
Accommodation is in newly built chalets, neat as a button with glorious views of the shrub-carpeted central Namibia stretching to the horizon. The chalets all have en suite bathrooms (on the poky side but with plenty of hot water from a wood-fired boiler) and, children being a big deal on this farm, they can be joined or converted into family rooms. For a more adventurous option, the rustic stone-built bush chalets have wonderful open-air en suite bathrooms, hurricane lamp lights and a good old-fashioned stoep from which to enjoy the view and even cook a meal over a barbecue (called a braai in this part of the world as your hosts will surely instruct).
The campsite is excellent with plenty of shade, private sites each with electricity and water with barbecue and picnic table and benches.
No matter which accommodation option you choose, you will most likely eat at least one meal in the main house with farm-reared beef and venison, home-grown vegetables and freshly baked bread. A true farm feast. The swimming pool is kept spotless and on the farm you have plenty of activities, especially for the young ones including walks, ponies, a playground, a dam, waterhole, birding, scenic sundower drives, starlit campfire evenings, a full-featured wellness studio and several excellent day trips.
Bed and breakfast and bed only accommodation in four chalets and three rustic bush chalets; en suite bathrooms with wood-fired boilers and flushing toilets; private balcony with view of the valley; restaurant; lounge; swimming pool; wellness clinic; library and board games; playground
Marked hiking trails up the mountain; sundowner walks; scenic farm drives; campfire nights; village visits; games; pony rides; fishing; birding; swimming- life on an African farm, basically. Day trips to the Herero village (on Wednesdays the kids put on a play and you can even have a meal afterwards); AfriCat; Cheetah Foundation; Waterberg Plateau Park; Croc Farm.

Waterberg Guest Farm
Waterberg Guest Farm is a small lodge on a big farm close to the Waterberg Plateau. Owned and run by Harry and Hannah Schneider-Waterberg, this tranquil chunk of paradise has been in the family for four generations.
Looking at a map, the roads from Grootfontein, east of Etosha, to the Caprivi strip and Bushmanland are daunting straight lines. Roy's Camp is a happy break in the monotony and a handy stopover between north and south, and east and west.

This is cheetah land. Fierce, fast and furry. No loud, lazy lions. These cats can’t even roar but they do like a good purr. Don’t we all? Pitch your tent in the safe bit Sherlock and check out the work of the AfriCat Foundation.
