Windhoek

The Elegant Farmstead

A farmstead renewed, refurbished and revitalised mixes the old with the new. The Elegant Farmstead is a convenient and affordable mini-safari stopover, an hour's drive from Windhoek.

At the Elegant Farmstead the owners have combined some of the original look and feel to the \"farmhouse\" whilst giving the interior elegant and modern touches.

The lovely garden of trees, shrubs and lawn combined with the sparkling pool just invites one to relax and enjoy the African peace. Relax outside in a lounger or in one of the comfortable lounges.

The Elegant Farmstead is a large game farm about 70km from Windhoek near the town of Okahandja. At this point the road divides into northbound, heading for the Waterberg, Etosha and the Caprivi; or westbound towards Swakopmund, Damaraland and Kaokoland.

Even though not a game reserve, the farm is home to a wide range of wildlife such as kudu, springbok, oryx, giraffe, waterbuck, eland and jackal, to name just a few. Start your safari early with guided game drives and nature walks; end the day on a scenic game drive with sundowner drinks on Signal Hill overlooking the vast swathe of land that is Namibia and its enormous open skies.

A large carnivorous dinner is served in the \"lapa\" - a the thatched open-air dining room - where you can choose from a range of superb South African wines, local venison and fresh farm produce.

The Elegant Farmhouse is a great first or last night stopover on your Namibia safari holiday. About a 90-minute drive from the airport, it gives you plenty of time to relax and enjoy the first or last of the great African landscapes without having to bother with the bustle and traffic of Windhoek.
